Original Space Monkey.

Okay.

Back in the fifties, the space program was being developed. They tried to make monkeys smarter through drugs, and other methods.

It worked.

It worked so well, they sent one of them to college.

Instead of using the opportunity to meet people and enjoy all the trappings of college life, monkey decided to work as hard as he could. He was determined to be the best, smartest monkey possible. He studied art, philosophy, literature, and the sciences.

Monkey began to turn his newfound intellect inward. Happens to all of us.

“Am I the smartest, best trained possible monkey for the job? Is that why I am going to be shot into space?”.

Poor monkey, too smart for his own good, realizes.

It’s not that I’m the best monkey. They couldn’t spare a Man.

Cognitive enhancers which purportedly aid in reducing age related dementia and Alzheimer’s disease work by increasing higher cortical activity through an ‘unidentified’ mechanism of action. Such drugs have been available in Europe in one form or another for a little over a decade. But said ‘mind enhancers’ will never see the light of day in the US, as the FDA is very strict.
